The Aim of Life?

An issue such as 'the aim of life', rarely comes in to someone's mind, not just because it is an embarrassing topic, but it could be a topic with out a conclusion. People will never have this question answered, but with an article you can express your own ideas and the opinions suggested by other people. Questions which people ask them selves are:

  • What is the point of life?

  • Is it the end when we die?

Most people these days, especially the younger generation, only have a few aims rather than one main one, which they think will fulfil their purpose in life. They never seem to achieve their aims and go on trying all the way through their lives, and even when they do they don't stop at them aims. The main aim in some people is trying desperately to gain more and more money. Why do you think most of the population in Britain alone, play the lottery? Almost everybody in Britain, as turned in to a small time gambler, and nobody realises this fact, they blunder it. Everyone lives for a dream, but it never happens and in reality the money can not buy what is the desire of our lives and that is pure love, or even more so eternal love, so we are still not satisfied even when we have everything life brings us. Why do we live then, if our lives is totally annihilated by the inevitably of death. Elvis was famous, rich and still he became very lonely and took his own life for it.

Drinking alcohol at pubs, night clubs, and parties are turning obsessive and addictive for most youth, and to a large extent most adults go down to the pub frequently. Why do they do that? To have gossip about things such as television, about others, and football, (usual in pubs) not that it is a problem for most people but can become a habit like everything else, it turns in to an every day routine. It can be wasteful to reject anything else in life, and these things cause big problems. Nobody can say that by the end of their lives they are going to think, 'great, I've done everything I wanted to do and achieve in my life'. Good advice would therefor be; think carefully how you want to live your life. Make sure you take the right path in life. There is emptiness inside every one of us, a gap, hunger for something else; we fill it with alcohol, drugs, sex, and money to enhance our lives. We turn these things in to an idol and therefor worship them and it comes before God, but in our subconscious minds we seek earnestly for God. We think this is the only thing life offers us; satisfying our bodies with materialistic pleasures. These things will never replace the eternal ecstatic pleasure we receive from God. People resort to wrongful measures such as these because all the way through their lives they have suffered with negligence and have not found that certain something which remains deep down in their hearts, the love for others, and love given by others, the most important aspect of our lives. (Wouldn't we live in harmony if we all loved one another)? Prince Charles spoke of his belief that, for all the advances of science, 'there remains deep in the soul (if I dare use that word), a persistent and unconscious anxiety that something is missing, some ingredient that makes life worth living'. People encounter this emptiness deep inside, and with out fulfilling it with the real aim, they try to fill it with small countless things in life which bring them enjoyment and pleasure which satisfy for a limited amount of time, but it's not enough. We only have one chance at life. This life is not a rehearsal for the next one; we are on stage straight away. Make the right choice. Does it not seem logical to consider this?

The Purpose in life

There is one religion what claims they know the purpose in life, and they are Christian's. It can be said that Christian's are completely satisfied with everything to do with life than most people. They do not see life as the only thing to look forward to. The sin which we do in our lives is the result of suffering even though it brings satisfaction at the time, and we do it for our selfish selves, but the wages of sin brings suffering by being a slave to sin and then rejection to eternity of isolation, death. One of the most raised objections to the Christian faith is 'why does God allow suffering? He does so because he loves us and gives us Human freedom, so he let us have our own choice in life to love or not to love. Secondly, he has all eternity to make it up to us, and he suffers with us, and moulds our characters from our experiences in life. Sometimes God uses suffering in a 'good' way. When we suffer that is when we turn to Christ, how else can he put us on the right path if we ignore him. Sacrifice is important in a relationship, and that is what Jesus did on the cross. The cross is simple and clear, and it says it all that God loves us with the purest love there is. Should we take the chance not to consider Christianity?

To sum up what you gain from Christianity, I would say that it brings forgiveness of sins, peace, fullness of life and of course a hope and a destiny. They say that it is the 'Holy Spirit' the love from God, which brings them the fruit of good will, happiness and joy, and many, many more things. They are cleansed of sin, and the gap inside them is filled completely to the top, over flowing. On special occasions, overwhelmed with the power of the spirit, will break them down in to tears of happiness especially when they open the door for God to enter in to their lives. For the first time it is astonishing and very intimidating, and one cannot comprehend this love, but the peace and the enormous intensity of happiness afterwards is fulfilling. Jesus died for us all, and suffered what no person would suffer for anyone, but he did because he loves us. He even knew what he would go through. There is not enough paper to tell you all what is necessary, and to tell you the truth, God changes your life and involves himself in it that much, that you have to see it for yourselves to believe it.

So then, why can't we fill this gap with everything life brings? A reason for this emptiness could be because people have turned their backs on God. God has given us life, and we ignore it and don't appreciate him for it, and so he is not part of our lives. Instead of considering both sides, and then making the right step, we stick to our own theory of what we believe. People go through this same experience before becoming a Christian, and have a false idea of what Christianity is all about. It all depends on where, when and how you are raised in your life. Jesus mentioned something about seeds will only grow on good turf, and the clutches of the thorns and thistles will stop anything growing at all. In affect that means that it depends how and where we are brought up to how high our faith grows.

Reasons for not becoming a Christian could be because of peer pressure; people conform with society, whether it is good or bad. It makes no sense to say, 'to be righteous is to be wrong' so why do we mock it? Deep inside we know what are right, and that is our conscience that tells us. God has given us the gift of common sense. Another reason could be because they receive false facts from others and criticise the Christian faith. When a Christian tries to give advice and help others, they throw it back in their faces. One more reason could be the fact that they haven't a clue what it's about, and people are afraid of what they don't know. Psychologists have done research in this area and proved it.

Why is Society the way it is?

Christian's proclaim that society is becoming worse, we are having a detrimental effect to the environment, hating and killing each other, fighting in war, committing crimes, sinning and refusing to love each other. Relationships are the most important aspect of our lives and we should forgive one another and ask for forgiveness. Everyone's happy memories of their lives what ever the circumstance, always has something to do with love and the relationship between who or whatever they are with at the time. One of the most important relationships of all, which is missing in a lot of people, is the relationship with God our creator. Jesus said something like, 'if we give, we will receive'. So if we give love to our neighbour and God, and ask for forgiveness in the process, we will receive a great gift, the gift of the 'holy-spirit' because he loves us dearly. How can we bare to neglect that thought for a second, God cannot entice us to come 'home' to him through the 'holy spirit', because love is not love if it is forced. If all this is so, (and nobody can be absolutely sure of what is true, we all have doubts), then this is greater than you can imagine.

It is a true fact, that people follow other people and the influences we pick up in our lives can portray bad things as acceptable. The Christian faith is not about being a 'goody, goody', but a well, mannered person, a person who is free of sin. The greatest bond any relationship has is love, and that is what the fellowship of the church has towards anything that breathes. Why do we have this concept of love deep with in us? We must have a reason for it. God has the greatest love for us all, and he has shared the love with us so we can share it with him, and everyone else.

Christian Bonds

Another concept about Christianity is that people are assured that it is boring and have a false image of what goes on, and complain that it is 'weird', but sermons and ceremonies and singing songs of praise which take place in church is more modern than you might think. Christian bands are very talented, but are never recognised. Only Christians ever here these songs. There is a tremendous event called 'Soul Survivor' where more than 8,000 people meet up, listen and praise with this music every year. Christianity is far from boring, it is not untrue and it is not irrelevant. On the contrary, it is exiting, true and relevant. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life" (John 14:6). If he was right, and I believe he was, then there can be nothing more important in this life than our response to him.

Advice given to a non-Christian would have to be; just see what it's all about and join an alpha course where questions of life are answered. Over a million people went to an alpha course last year. Dip your feet in it. It could be the best thing you ever do in your life.
